Respiratory Therapist (RT)

The respiratory therapist can give treatments and/or apply oxygen or other devices to help patients breathe easier and is in charge of helping doctors put patients on the ventilator when they can no longer breathe for themselves. In the hospital, this person is called for pulmonary or respiratory care, including ventilator care.RelevanceRespiratory therapists care for patients who have trouble breathing—for example, from a chronic respiratory disease such as asthma or emphysema.
